If you don't read anything else, please read my key takeaways and see why I am the most qualified person running for Schertz City Council when it comes to the cornerstones of any community.
With 24 years of Firefighting and First Responder experience, Robert Westbrook wants to bring safety to Schertz's residents.
With Robert Westbrook's extensive background in education consisting of 12 years serving the residents of Schertz as a member of SCUCISD, it's clear why getting more involved in our children's education is so important to him.
Past chairman of the legislative committee for TASB Board of Directors with local and state experience that will benefit the City of Schertz.
Robert Westbrook's educational background has been incredibly influential in shaping the issues and values. His college days began at Texas State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. He then went on to earn his Master's degree in Business Administration from Webster University. He also became a member of the Psi Alpha chapter of the illustrious Omega Psi Phi fraternity, which has been home to members such as Langston Hughes, Michael Jordan, and Steve Harvey. His passion for education truly shined from early on, and it hasn't stopped since!
Even after graduating from higher education, he wasn't done being involved in the educational world yet! In May of 2011, he was elected to Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD Board and served for 2 years as its president. He has also served on the Texas Association of School Boards Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 20, Position D, and served as its past Chair of the Legislative Committee. Not only that, but he was also in the Texas Association of School Boards Leadership Class of 2013 and is still serving the Texas Association of School Boards to this day.
His involvement in education didn't stop with his own journey, however. Both of his children attended and graduated from Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD schools. His son, Mark, has graduated from Texas A&M-Commerce and is currently enlisted in the Air Force Reserves, and his daughter, Maya, completed her Master's in Architecture at UTSA and is currently working for the DOD as an architect/civil engineer.
Robert's passion for his community also shows through the 22 years he has served while working for the San Antonio Fire Department. He is currently serving as a Division Chief of the SAFD, where he shows his strong and clear leadership skills in a high-intensity environment.
He also stays involved in his community through his position on the Generations Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee and as Chairman of the Lonestar Investment Pool.
